In September of 2021, Superstorm Ida barreled through northern NJ where an adjacent creek located near Maayanot High School peaked and flooded the brand new first floor renovations causing a substantial loss. After discussions with the GC and school board, it was an easy choice to move forward with passive flood protection due to the flood prone severity and lack of personnel for deployment. Now the main lobby entrance is protected with a 27’ W x 3’ tall automatic flood gate that will rise automatically in the event of a future flood. For added protection, the side entrance of the building was equipped with custom flood doors.
